Microsoft today declared Windows 11 adds iPhone support to its Phone Link app. The app allows iPhone users to make and receive phone calls, send and receive text messages, and view iPhone notifications directly on the computer.
Notably, the app brings limited iMessage functionality to Windows. After connecting the iPhone to the PC via Bluetooth and granting certain permissions on the iPhone, users can send and receive iMessages and SMS text messages over the phone connection, but there is no support for group chats or sending photos and videos.
As mentioned on the edgeTom WarrenPhone Connection doesn’t have a full message history for conversations and shows all sent and received messages as gray blobs, meaning iMessages and SMS text messages can’t be distinguished.
Microsoft says iPhone support over the phone will be available in preview for a “small percentage” starting this week Windows Insider Registered members of the Dev, Beta, or Release Preview channels. The preview will be expanded “over time”.
