Remembering Fallen Soldiers: Memorial Day Ceremony

UPDATE, May 27: Anthem Community Council notes that parking will be limited. “Please carpool or walk if you can, or park in the middle and lower lots or at the Community Center (come across the footbridge),” council said in a Facebook post. “Please leave upper lot spots for our veterans.”

A ceremony to commemorate the service and sacrifices of fallen soldiers will include the ringing of a bell for each veteran killed or missing in action and memorialized in the Circle of Honor; their names inscribed on brick pavers. Roses will be laid upon the pavers.

U.S. Army Lt. Col. David Clukey will deliver the keynote address. Lt. Col. John Simmons, U.S. Air Force (Retired) will serve as the Master of Ceremonies.  Music provided by ProMusica Arizona.

Seating is limited at this public event. Lawn chairs and blankets are welcome. Also note that the train, hockey rink and skate park will not open until after the ceremony concludes.

Note the time change for this year’s event from previous years, due to a trend in high temperatures.
