‘Friends of the Library’ in Anthem Seeks Volunteers

The New Friends of the Library (NFL) is looking for fresh faces and new ideas to help keep the North Valley Regional Library in Anthem vibrant. NFL is a volunteer group supplementing the library’s budget through the sale of used books daily and quarterly book sales.

“NFL volunteers organize and handle both the Passive Book Shelf at the library entrance and set up and sell a wide variety of books at the quarterly book sales,” the organization said in a statement. “Items available at the book sales include fiction, nonfiction, media, children’s books, travel information gardening books, cookbooks, business and educational materials.”

Volunteers are needed to keep the Passive Shelf stocked and organized, box incoming book donations and library withdrawals for quarterly book sales, and attend meetings to vote on how the income is spent for programs and supplies for the library.

The group launched in 2005. Several of the officers have been on board ever since. “We need some new faces, new ideas, and volunteers willing to serve as vice-president, treasurer, book sale organization, and general help on a regular basis,” according to the statement.

The next meeting is Wednesday, Sept. 13, 6:30 p.m. at the library, followed by another Oc. 18. For more information, email newfriendsnvlibrary@gmail.com.
